Even beyond purchasing, repair costs could rise due to tariffs. With about 50% of car parts produced internationally, everything from brake pads to batteries could become more expensive. Morcaldi noted, “This fundamentally hurts everyone—buyers and sellers alike.”
Experts predict that these tariffs won’t last long. Political ramifications and potential backlash from counter-tariffs could force a rethink. As we approach the Congressional elections in 2024, the balancing act between protecting U.S. jobs and keeping prices affordable will take center stage.
