Golden Eagles Open Home Season with Thrilling Doubleheader
On a sunny day in Irvine, California, the Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles kicked off their home season after a strong showing at the CUI Kickoff Classic. However, CUI’s Audrey Robles added an insurance run in the sixth, which proved crucial as the Golden Eagles held on for victory, thanks largely to Moore’s two home runs and three RBIs.
Game 2: CUI 6, NNU 9
The second game was just as thrilling, though the Golden Eagles fell 9–6. CUI started strong, with Robles hitting a sacrifice fly to drive in Im for an early 1–0 lead. An RBI single from Noelani Ching later pushed the lead to 2-0.
But NNU responded in a big way during the third inning, scoring four runs to take the lead. Concordia fought back, limiting the damage and keeping the game close through the mid-innings.
The Golden Eagles found their rhythm in the fifth, scoring four times to regain the lead. Robles hit a massive three-run homer, putting them ahead 6–4. Despite this, the Nighthawks surged back with a late-game rally, ultimately taking the win.
