Boopie Miller and the SMU Mustangs pulled off a thrilling win against Virginia on Wednesday night. The game ended 54-52, thanks to Miller’s incredible fade-away 3-pointer just before the buzzer. The shot not only sent him tumbling into his own bench but also ignited a huge celebration that silenced the home crowd in Charlottesville.
Miller had a strong performance overall, scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds. This victory improved SMU’s record to 13-4 and marked their fourth win in ACC play. Miller has been a standout this season, averaging 14.6 points and 5.9 assists per game.
The game itself was a tense defensive showdown. SMU led by two points at halftime but faced a tough stretch where they went scoreless for nearly five minutes. This allowed Virginia to pull ahead by five after a 12-0 run.
Blake Buchanan was a bright spot for Virginia, contributing 11 points and 15 rebounds off the bench. Ishan Sharma added 10 points, but the team struggled with their shooting, going 4-of-26 from beyond the arc. With this loss, Virginia’s record fell to 8-9.
Alongside Miller’s points, Chuck Harris also scored 12 for SMU, while Samet Yigitoglu chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds. The Mustangs are looking to build on their momentum as they prepare to face Miami on Saturday.
