INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Drake Rowing made strides at the MACRA Championship Regatta, showcasing their growth on a competitive stage at Eagle Creek.
The Bulldogs delivered impressive performances. The novice four took home a silver medal, while the varsity four secured bronze. The varsity eight also showed improvement, catching up to stronger crews they faced earlier this season.
Head coach Charlie DiSilvestro noted that the team is learning what it takes to compete at high levels. “It was great to see them step up. They are getting faster and understanding the pressure of racing finals,” he said. “It’s a different mindset—everyone brings their best in those moments.”
One key takeaway for DiSilvestro was the team’s ability to adapt. “That adjustment was crucial for us as a team. I’m proud of how they responded,” he shared. The varsity four and novice four both raced exceptionally, reflecting their hard work and dedication. The varsity eight managed to close the gap with previous competitors, signaling their growth.
After the event, the team shifted its focus. “For the upcoming Dad Vail National Championship, we’ll hone in on the varsity and novice fours,” DiSilvestro stated.
Looking ahead, Drake is set to compete in the Dad Vail Regatta on May 8-9 in Camden, N.J. This event will be a test of their skills and strategies refined from the recent regatta.
