UNH Football’s Promising Start
The University of New Hampshire football team is off to an exciting start this season. They kicked things off with a solid 27-10 win against NC Central on August 30. They followed that up with a close 19-16 victory over Holy Cross on September 6. Thanks to these strong performances, the Wildcats earned spots in national rankings, coming in at No. 23 in Stats Perform and No. 24 in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
In their game against Holy Cross, the Wildcats faced a tough challenge in the fourth quarter, trailing 16-13. But sophomore kicker Nick Reed (from Harrison, N.Y.) stepped up big time. He nailed a 50-yard field goal with 9:13 left in the game and capped it off with a 40-yarder as the clock ran out. His efforts earned him accolades, including the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week and Stats Perform FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.
Looking ahead, the Wildcats are scheduled for their next game on September 13, where they’ll face Ball State University. For fans wanting to catch the action at home, the next matchup is on September 27, against UAlbany, kicking off the CAA Football conference season.
A Commitment to Student-Athletes
In tandem with their athletic achievements, UNH Athletics is also gearing up for its annual fall fundraiser, Wildcats for Life, which runs from September 29 to October 10. This initiative supports student-athletes across various programs. Notably, this year’s fundraiser includes a $35,000 matching contribution, amplifying the impact of community support.
As sports and academic passion collide at UNH, the Wildcats’ journey continues to inspire both players and fans alike. For more details about the team and the fundraiser, visit the UNH Athletics website.
