Uni Seoul Secures ₹5 Crore Seed Funding: A Game-Changer for Lifestyle Brands!

Uni Seoul, a fresh face in the lifestyle brand scene, has secured Rs 5 crore (around $585,000) in seed funding. This round was led by Sauce VC, known for backing early-stage consumer ventures. Other contributors included Panthera Peak Ventures and individual investors like Arun Venkatachalam and Sangeet Agrawal.

The startup aims to enhance its reach in major tier I cities by opening new stores in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Additionally, it plans to create new private labels, improve its direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform, ramp up marketing efforts, and streamline its supply chain.

Founded by Gaurav Karmani and Mohit Khurana, Uni Seoul offers products across various categories, such as home goods, personal care, gifts, and fashion accessories. The brand operates four successful stores in Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Nashik and is gradually growing within India’s vibrant lifestyle retail market.

Currently, Uni Seoul boasts a catalog of over 700 products. Around 40% of its inventory comes from local contract manufacturing, while the rest is sourced from South Korea, India, China, and Vietnam. Interestingly, since launching its online store in October 2023, it has already accounted for about 27% of total revenue, despite limited marketing initiatives. The company aims to triple its growth within the year by adopting an omnichannel strategy and expanding operational capacities.

In a recent statement, Mohit Khurana, Co-founder and CEO, shared, “We’re committed to making everyday living joyful through beautifully designed yet affordable products. Backed by Sauce VC, a partner with a strong history in nurturing beloved consumer brands, we’re excited to harness that experience to scale our brand.”

Uni Seoul primarily targets India’s youth, offering stylish and affordable products that resonate with their aspirations. According to Manu Chandra, a partner at Sauce VC, “Gaurav and Mohit have a mission to create joyful shopping experiences. This model is thriving across Asia, and with increasing disposable incomes, we expect similar success in India.”

Moreover, research from Statista indicates that India’s D2C market is set to reach $100 billion by 2025, reflecting a significant opportunity for brands like Uni Seoul. Engaging with this trend, the brand’s blend of stylish design and affordability could cater perfectly to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.

In summary, Uni Seoul is not just a brand but a movement towards making quality lifestyle products accessible. With their strategy in place and strong support, they are well-positioned to capture the hearts of many customers across India.
