Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Launches Bharat Telecom 2025: Unlocking India’s Export Potential in the Telecom Sector

At the recent Bharat Telecom 2025 conference in New Delhi, Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia shared a bold vision for India’s telecom future. “Bharat Telecom is more than just a conference—it’s a commitment to advancing global connectivity through innovation,” he said. Scindia emphasized the importance of teamwork: “When diverse ideas align, they create harmony—a true symphony of collaboration.”

Hosted by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) alongside the Department of Telecommunications, the event aims to position India as a key player in telecom manufacturing and services. Scindia addressed attendees, including local leaders and international delegates, making it clear that India is on a path to become a leading telecom exporter.

Highlighting recent achievements, Scindia noted, “In just 22 months, we’ve connected 99% of our villages to 5G and integrated 82% of our population into the digital realm by launching 470,000 towers. This isn’t just progress; it’s a revolution.” He underscored that this digital infrastructure is crucial for empowering citizens with access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

India’s rise as a digital powerhouse has been dramatic. Once behind in mobile access, it now boasts the world’s second-largest telecom market, delivering the cheapest data globally. “Under Prime Minister Modi, we’ve transformed aspirations into actual infrastructure,” Scindia stated, reflecting on the nation’s rapid technological advancement. This shift from limited access in the ’90s to widespread digital connectivity is remarkable.

Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications, shared similar sentiments. He expressed that India is now positioned not just as a consumer, but as a creator of technology. The Digital India initiative, along with forward-looking government policies, has fueled this transformation. India now accounts for 15% of the world’s iPhone production, showcasing its growing importance in global supply chains.

Arnob Roy, Chairman of TEPC, highlighted that Bharat Telecom reflects the strength of India’s telecom ecosystem. “This event demonstrates our growth and innovation within the global market,” he said, referencing the government’s role in fostering these advancements.

The event drew participation from over 130 foreign delegates across 35 countries, focusing on topics such as 5G technology, Optical Fibre, and AI-driven networks. This diverse attendance illustrates the global interest in India’s telecom capabilities.
