A United Airlines plane recently clipped the tail of another United aircraft at Chicago’s O’Hare airport. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The passengers from flight 2652, which arrived from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, were able to exit the plane without issue, despite the hold-up.

In the recent O’Hare incident, the plane that was hit was stationary. Witness Bill Marcus, a passenger on the flight, described the situation. He said he was surprised he didn’t feel much during the incident. “I was shocked that I didn’t feel something more,” he shared with CBS News Chicago. Once the planes were separated, there was a bit of shuddering. It took about 40 minutes for them to reach the gate.

The rise in runway and taxiway incidents can be alarming for travelers. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, runway incursions have increased by nearly 30% over the past five years. Experts stress that stricter safety protocols and better training could prevent such occurrences.
