UnityPoint Launches New Center Dedicated to Empowering Seniors in Health Care Management

HIAWATHA — This week marks the opening of the new UnityPoint Health PACE Senior Care center in Hiawatha, located at 1450 N. Center Point Rd. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to celebrate this exciting milestone. The center is poised to welcome its first participants this coming spring.

The PACE center spans 22,000 square feet and offers services aimed at helping Iowans aged 55 and older maintain their health and stay in their homes. It is the only program of its kind in the area and is the fourth UnityPoint Health PACE center in Iowa. PACE stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly.

Participants will have access to a range of services, including home health and rehabilitation support. The dedicated staff will coordinate primary medical care, specialty visits, medications, therapies, and social work appointments. This integrated approach ensures that participants receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs.

Transportation is also part of the program, helping participants get to and from the center, as well as other medical appointments in the community. This eliminates the hassle of transportation issues, allowing seniors to focus on their health.

At the center, participants can also engage with peers in the recreation area, receive medical care at an on-site clinic, and enjoy hot meals in the dining area. UnityPoint emphasizes that the goal is to provide peace of mind for both participants and their families by offering multiple services in one location.
