Stetson East will be the only dining hall open this summer while renovations take place at the United Table in International Village. The university announced this decision, noting that the Pure Eats section at Stetson East, which caters to those avoiding the top nine allergens, will be under construction until June. Meanwhile, options for students with religious dietary restrictions will still be available at Stetson East and The Market at Curry Student Center.

To make up for the temporary closure of Pure Eats, Stetson East’s Homestyle station now offers more allergen-friendly choices. The Global Eats station continues to provide tasty vegan and vegetarian meals. Students seeking kosher options can find meals at The Market or request them at The Eatery, both of which accept meal swipes.

According to a university spokesperson, most grilled chicken and sliced turkey available at The Eatery are certified Halal, ensuring that these options meet dietary needs. Students with allergies or restrictions are encouraged to talk to a manager or a chef, who are trained in allergen safety through programs like FARE Check. This program helps kitchen staff understand how to prepare food safely for those with allergies.

Notably, student feedback has highlighted concerns about the variety of allergy-friendly and religious dietary options in the dining halls. While some stations like the Delicious Without option at United Table ensure separate kitchen setups, concerns remain about potential cross-contamination.
