University of Dayton Celebrates Local Heroes: Two Community Leaders Awarded Honorary Degrees

DAYTON, Ohio — This December, the University of Dayton will honor two remarkable community leaders with honorary degrees: Debbie Blunden-Diggs, the artistic director of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and Tony Hall, a former U.S. ambassador and three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee.

Blunden-Diggs has made a significant impact in the arts and her community. She has received national recognition for her dedication to dance as a powerful form of expression and connection. Since 2010, her company and the university have worked together on various projects, reaching over 40 schools in the Dayton area. “My life’s journey has been centered around dance,” she shared. “This honor recognizes my efforts and inspires me to keep sharing that joy.”

A Dayton native, he founded the Hall Hunger Initiative, partnering with the University of Dayton to tackle food inequities.
