MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho women’s tennis team had a fantastic weekend, picking up two big wins. They edged out Montana State 4-3 and dominated Montana 7-0.

In their match against Montana State, the Vandals kicked things off strong in doubles play, securing the opening point with victories on courts two and three, even after losing the top match.
The singles competition saw a nail-biting moment. The teams were tied at 3-3 when Chenyue Xu stepped up on court six and won decisively in two sets, securing the match for Idaho.
The following match against Montana showcased Idaho’s talent. Lena Beckx shone on court one, winning easily against Hailey Murphy, and Ida Johansson followed suit on court two, defeating Kelsey Phillips. The momentum continued with Diana Khaydarshina, Valentina Rodas, Naomi Schraeder, and Selin Sepken all clinching victories in straight sets.
These wins bring Idaho’s season record to an impressive 14-3, while Montana’s record now stands at 3-13. With this recent success, the Vandals currently sit in second place in the Big Sky Conference, a notable achievement in a competitive field.
As they prepare for their next matches, the Vandals will travel to California to challenge UC Davis on April 17 and will face Sacramento State just days later on April 19.
