Janice Way, the CEO of Leadership Kentucky, highlighted Dr. Capilouto’s dedication to the common good. Since becoming the 12th president of the University of Kentucky in 2011, Dr. Capilouto has overseen significant growth at the university. Notably, UK HealthCare has expanded its services, integrating facilities such as UK King’s Daughters and UK St. Claire to provide critical medical care closer to home. This initiative is part of the Advancing Kentucky Together Network, a collaboration that focuses on enhancing education, healthcare, and workforce development across the state.
Dr. Capilouto’s background is as impressive as his leadership. Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, he held pivotal roles at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, including provost and dean of the School of Public Health. He holds multiple degrees, including a Doctorate of Dental Medicine and a PhD in health policy from Harvard University, showcasing his commitment to advancing health and education.
