The Mizzou men’s basketball team is wrapping up its roster for the 2026-27 season with the exciting addition of Cory Stansberry.
Last season, Stansberry shone at Western Carolina. He scored an impressive 14.1 points per game and played a key role in helping his team secure 10 conference wins, the highest in 15 years. His performance earned him third-team All-Southern Conference honors.
Head Coach Dennis Gates expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Cory is our final piece. He adds firepower and brings the experience we need. He’ll fit well into our team’s culture.”
Stansberry wasn’t just a scorer. He ranked second on his team with 56 three-pointers and contributed 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Notably, he was one of only four players in his conference to hit the 400-point mark while also achieving over 100 rebounds, 55 three-pointers, and 50 assists during the season.
Standing at 6-foot-4, Stansberry hails from Bermuda Dunes, California. He played two seasons at Pepperdine, including a year as a redshirt. Across his college career, he’s appeared in 92 games, racking up 891 points, 270 rebounds, and 135 assists.
Stansberry is the sixth transfer to join Mizzou this spring. Alongside him are several notable players, including Tennessee’s Jaylen Carey and South Dakota’s Jordan Crawford. With these new additions and a top freshman recruiting class, Mizzou is looking to build on its success from the last two NCAA Tournament appearances.
