University of Missouri Baseball Triumphs: 13th Consecutive Win with 14-6 Victory Over Southern Indiana!

Mizzou Baseball Continues Hot Streak

The Mizzou Tigers are on fire! They marked their 13th straight win with a solid 14-6 victory over Southern Indiana at Taylor Stadium. This win boosts their record to 15-2, while Southern Indiana dropped to 12-5, ending their own four-game winning streak.

From the start, Mizzou showed off a powerful offense. Sophomore Chris Patterson and junior Kam Durnin each smashed their second home runs of the season, contributing to an impressive lineup performance.

Southern Indiana kicked things off with an early lead thanks to a sacrifice fly in the first inning. But the Tigers quickly responded. Kaden Peer got the action going with a single, soon stealing second base. Durnin then stepped up with a double that brought Peer home, tying the game. Cameron Benson kept the momentum going with an RBI single, putting Mizzou ahead. A double from Pierre Seals soon expanded the lead to 3-1.

In the third inning, Durnin’s solo home run added to their advantage. The Tigers kept piling on the runs, scoring five in the fourth. Freshman Blaize Ward started with a hustle double, and Patterson followed with a powerful two-run homer. Mizzou’s aggressive play led to an 8-1 lead after a series of runs from wild pitches and an RBI single from Seals.

Luke Sullivan, in his second start of the season, pitched well, and the bullpen held strong. Eli Skidmore entered in a tight spot and struck out two batters in a row, helping the team maintain control.

However, Southern Indiana rallied back with four runs in the fifth, narrowing the lead. But the Tigers didn’t falter, responding with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Ward and Maisonet combined efforts to keep the scoreboard ticking for Mizzou.

Trey Lawrence and Juan Villarreal closed out the game brilliantly, with Villarreal retiring the side in just eight pitches.

Standout Performers

Durnin shined, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. He’s had eight games with three hits in his career. Benson also contributed significantly, going 2-for-3, with two runs and a stolen base. Seals and Patterson, both with strong performances, ensured the team’s dominance at the plate.

Interestingly, with this win, Mizzou now has their 18th and 19th home runs of the season, showcasing their powerful batting lineup.

As they enter the next stage of the season, the Tigers are set for a three-game series against the No. 6 Auburn Tigers this weekend. Both teams are eager to prove themselves as they kick off SEC play. Game one starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, and fans can catch all the action via the SEC Network+ or the Varsity Network.
