The University of New Haven is celebrating a big win! For the third year running, the Office of Marketing and Communications received six awards at the Collegiate Advertising Awards. These accolades recognize creative work in branding and marketing, showcasing the university’s efforts in newsletters and digital advertising.
Among their proudest achievements this year are gold awards for Charlie’s Events Roundup newsletter, the Alumni Reunion Weekend logo, and a digital ad campaign for the university’s paramedicine programs. Charlie’s Events Roundup is a weekly email designed to gather all campus events into one easy-to-read format. Before it launched in 2019, students were flooded with multiple emails from various groups, making it hard to keep up.
Kaitlyn Pinheiro, who oversees these newsletters, explained, “The Events Roundup condenses all that information. It helps students stay informed while minimizing clutter in their inboxes.” This focused approach helps students discover opportunities they might miss otherwise. As Pinheiro puts it, “When students start at the university, they’re introduced to a world of possibilities.”
The newsletter includes a mix of workshops, athletics, and campus events, encouraging students to explore beyond their usual activities. Pinheiro’s role involves constant research, checking social media, and collaborating with various campus organizations to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
Winning an award was unexpected but rewarding for Pinheiro. She said, “I was pleasantly surprised! Competing against universities nationwide is no easy feat.” She takes pride in her work, noting that even if just a few students attend an event because of the newsletter, it feels like a success.
On top of the newsletter, Tyler Hanson and Carol Regan from the Digital Marketing team created a winning campaign for the paramedicine program. This campaign utilized search ads as well as targeted social media promotions, focusing on engaging potential students. Hanson mentioned, “Our paramedicine campaign has consistently performed well on social media. It’s rewarding to see our hard work recognized.”
Both Hanson and Regan highlighted the collaborative nature of their work. They frequently partner with other departments to sharpen their strategies over the years. This teamwork has noticeably boosted enrollment in the paramedicine programs.
The Collegiate Advertising Awards not only recognize individual efforts but also spotlight the collective dedication of the university’s marketing team. Their creativity and hard work make a real impact on the Charger community. As the team continues to tell the story of the University of New Haven in meaningful ways, they not only celebrate their achievements but also inspire the community to engage more fully.
Congratulations to the winners for their incredible achievements! This recognition showcases the vibrant campus life and opportunities available at the University of New Haven.
