University of West Florida’s 8th Annual Day of Giving Soars to New Heights: Join the Celebration!

The University of West Florida (UWF) recently celebrated a successful eighth annual Day of Giving, raising an impressive $278,554 with contributions from 1,078 donors. This year, the event surpassed its fundraising goal by over $100,000.

A noteworthy achievement this time was gaining support from all 50 states for the first time. This reflects the growing reach and commitment of the UWF community nationwide.

Rebecca Matthews, chair of the UWF Board of Trustees, expressed gratitude for the community’s generosity. She emphasized that not only did they exceed the goal, but they also showcased the strength and unity of the UWF family.

The Day of Giving is a 24-hour fundraising event held during UWF Founders Week. It aligns with the university’s Here for Good campaign, bringing together alumni, students, staff, and friends to support important university needs. Contributions go directly to scholarships, academic programs, and initiatives that enhance the university’s impact on students and the community.

This event coincides with exciting developments for UWF, including its transition to Division I athletics and increased opportunities for student engagement. According to recent studies in higher education funding, universities that engage their alumni often see a boost in donations, a trend UWF seems to be riding effectively.

UWF President Manny Diaz Jr. commented on the significance of this generosity, noting it will positively impact students and foster innovation, setting the stage for sustained growth and excellence at UWF.
