Unleashing Excellence: CUI Stacks Up at the PacWest Awards – Celebrate Concordia University Irvine Athletics!

IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine softball team has had an impressive run in the PacWest Conference. This year, head coach Crystal Rosenthal was named PacWest Coach of the Year for the fifth time. Under her leadership, the Golden Eagles clinched their seventh regular-season title in just ten years.

This season, Concordia consistently performed well, splitting or winning every series in the conference. They also stood out nationally, earning spots in the NFCA Top 25 rankings and beating teams like No. 3 Cal State San Bernardino. As a result, they are set to make their eighth consecutive NCAA West Regional appearance.

Leading the individual accolades was Morgan Kneubuhler, who secured the PacWest Newcomer of the Year title. She had a standout season with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs. Her batting average was an impressive .401, and she earned a spot on the NFCA Division II Player of the Year Watch List. Morgan’s performance included 20 multi-hit games and two PacWest Player of the Week awards.

In addition, Kacie Gossett and Jayden Nishi impressed on the mound. Gossett achieved a 1.70 ERA over 128 innings with 91 strikeouts, while Nishi held a 2.44 ERA in 111.2 innings and surpassed 100 career strikeouts. Both were recognized for their outstanding contributions, making the NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Year Watch List.

Audrey Robles also made her mark, tying for second in the PacWest with 12 home runs. She showcased her all-around talent by maintaining a .990 fielding percentage, which earned her Defender of the Year consideration.

Meanwhile, players like Jessica Im, Caitlynn Campbell, and Alyssa Struthers formed a solid outfield unit. Im scored 42 runs and had a .322 average. Campbell led with 18 stolen bases, while Struthers boasted a stellar .347 batting average and a perfect fielding record.
