The 32nd FISU World University Games Winter in Bardonecchia brought exciting moments in freestyle skiing, especially in moguls and dual moguls events. Over two days, athletes showcased their skills and determination.

The competition kicked off with the moguls event. Kazakhstan’s Anastassiya Gorodko achieved a remarkable feat by winning gold in the women’s final. Her runs were filled with precision and control, impressing everyone involved. “It’s my first University Games, and I’m so happy!” Gorodko beamed after her victory.
Japan’s Haruka Nakao took home the silver, while Germany’s Hanna Weese secured the bronze, completing a competitive podium.
On the men’s side, Akseli Ahvenainen from Finland earned gold with two strong runs. “I am really happy about my victory. It felt great going out of the start gate,” he said, reflecting on his performance. Japan’s Shugo Kanno won silver, and Canada’s Quinn Dawson claimed bronze.
The second day featured the thrilling dual moguls, where athletes raced head-to-head, adding to the excitement. Kazakhstan maintained its impressive performance, snatching three medals in both men’s and women’s events.
In the women’s dual moguls, Gorodko continued her winning streak, taking gold again after a fierce final against her friend and teammate Ayaulym Amrenova, who won silver. “I’m so happy, not only for me but for Ayaulym too—she’s my best friend,” she said with joy. Japan’s Marin Ito rounded out the podium with a bronze medal.
For the men, Kazakhstan’s Anton Bondarev stood out, capturing gold with an energetic performance. “Today, I was determined to win,” he reflected. Japan’s Shima Kawaoka finished with silver, while Jackson Edward Crockett from the United States took bronze.
Kazakhstan athletes truly shone at the Games, demonstrating strength and teamwork with a total of five medals over two days.
