Southern Illinois University Track and Field kicked off the 2025-26 Indoor Season with the Saluki Fast Start event on December 6. Held at the SIU Recreation Center, this meet showcased impressive performances from both men’s and women’s teams.
The excitement began on Friday with the men’s and women’s pentathlon. Dom Martin led the way, earning first place with a total of 3,205 points. He excelled in both the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Meanwhile, Dallas Hodge set the tone for the throwers by winning the weight throw with an impressive distance of 18.18 meters.
Over Saturday’s events, the Salukis showcased their talent by winning 13 events—eight on the track and five in the field. Notable first-place finishes included:

- Malik Allen in Men’s Triple Jump: 14.70m
- Nadir Langston in Men’s 60-meter Hurdles: 8.23
- Luke Leverett in Men’s 60-meter Dash: 6.90
- Donte Long in Men’s 400-meter Dash: 49.05
- Trinity Cleaver in Women’s 200-meter Dash: 24.78
- Weston Jokerst in Men’s 3000-meter Run: 8:38.27
- Men’s 4×400 Relay Team: 3:21.69
This start is considered promising for the Salukis, reflecting not only their preparation but also the potential for a strong season ahead. The team will resume competition on January 16, 2026, at the Indiana Invitational.
