Unleashing Power: AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 ‘Gorgon Halo’ Surpasses Strix Halo by 10% with Impressive 192GB Memory and Radeon 8065S

AMD has a new chip on the way: the Ryzen AI MAX+ 495. This powerful processor boasts a 10% performance boost and comes with a Radeon 8065 iGPU.

This chip is part of the Gorgon Halo family, which aims to enhance the performance of previous models. The Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 features 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, which allows it to handle a variety of tasks effectively. It operates at improved clock speeds while keeping the same cache sizes: 16 MB L2 and 64 MB L3.

A key aspect of the Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 is its graphics capabilities. The Radeon 8065S GPU, a more powerful version of the Radeon 8060S, is said to deliver faster clock speeds, although it maintains a similar core count. This will be particularly beneficial for applications requiring high-quality graphics.

Recently, this chip appeared on a testing platform with an impressive 192 GB of RAM, far exceeding the 128 GB limit of the current Strix Halo. This enhancement makes it ideal for running large language models (LLMs), utilizing about 87.5% of its memory for graphics processing. The setup also features a 2 TB SSD and a 120Hz display resolution of 2560×1600.

In terms of performance metrics, the Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 scored 4293 points for single-core tasks and 57,525 points for multi-core tasks. This represents a solid 10% increase in multi-threaded performance and a 5% increase for single-threaded tasks compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395.

The Radeon 8065S GPU also performed admirably, scoring 1232 points in 2D and 18,427 points in 3D benchmarks, indicating it likely shares the same architecture as the Radeon 8060S, which features 40 compute units based on RDNA 3.5 design.

AMD plans to release the Ryzen AI MAX 400 “Gorgon Halo” lineup later this year or early next year. This follows recent updates to the Strix Halo series, ensuring that technology enthusiasts will have plenty to look forward to. Additional announcements may come during Computex 2026, leading to further insights into this exciting lineup.
