Unleashing Power: Apple Debuts New Mac Studio with Cutting-Edge M4 Max and M3 Ultra Chips!

Apple has announced an update to the Mac Studio after over a year and a half. The new models include an M4 Max for the base version and an M3 Ultra for the advanced option. The starting prices are $1,999 for the M4 Max and $3,999 for the M3 Ultra, with preorders available now and a release date of March 12.

The M4 Max Mac Studio is impressive, boasting speeds that are up to 3.5 times faster than the original M1 Max. It features a CPU with 14 to 16 cores and a GPU ranging from 32 to 40 cores. This model starts with 36GB of RAM (an upgrade from the previous 32GB) and supports up to 128GB, increase from the previous 96GB limit. Storage starts at 512GB SSD and can be expanded to 8TB.

The M3 Ultra version promises even more power. It offers up to 32 cores, with 24 being performance cores—50% more than earlier Ultra chips. The GPU has a base configuration of 60 cores and can max out at 80 cores, plus a 32-core Neural Engine for advanced AI tasks.

Starting RAM for the M3 Ultra is 96GB, expandable up to an impressive 512GB, making it suitable for heavy local AI models. The internal storage begins at 1TB and can be maxed out at 16TB.

In terms of graphics, Apple introduces dynamic caching and hardware-accelerated mesh shading, enhancing performance and reducing lag. It also includes a second-generation ray-tracing engine, improving content creation and gaming experiences.

The new Mac Studio retains the same compact and square design as before. It features two USB-C ports and an SD Card slot on the front. The back is equipped with four additional USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and single ports for ethernet, audio, and power, including an audio jack and power button. Thunderbolt 5 is available on both configurations, but only on the rear four USB-C ports for the M4 Max; the M3 Ultra offers it on all six.
