Werewolves Take on a New Twist
Imagine a world where every supermoon turns people into werewolves. That’s the premise of Werewolves. In just the second year of this wild event, over a billion people transformed, leading to chaos and terror.
The film kicks off on the night of the next supermoon. People are bracing for the worst, and Wesley Marshall, played by Frank Grillo, is on a mission. A former marine and leader of a response team, Wesley is developing a cure—or at least something to shield against the werewolf transformation. He dubs it “moonscreen.”
Wesley isn’t alone. He gathers a team of scientists, including familiar faces like Lou Diamond Phillips and Katrina Law, known for her role in Arrow. Wesley is driven by a personal loss; his brother was killed during the last supermoon, so he’s determined to protect his brother’s widow and daughter.
The idea of everyone becoming a werewolf under the supermoon creates an intense atmosphere, reminiscent of The Purge. I found that intriguing. However, I wasn’t a fan of the first The Purge movie because the characters made some questionable choices.
Fortunately, the sequels improved upon the original. Who knows? A follow-up to Werewolves could be even better!
