Unlock 24/7 Online Booking at Munson Army Health Center: Your Health, Your Schedule!

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kansas — Munson Army Health Center is rolling out a new feature: online appointment booking through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. This service aims to give patients 24/7 access to manage their appointments.

“We’re thrilled to launch this online service,” said Col. Jolanda L.J. Walker, the director. “It allows patients to take control of their healthcare by scheduling when it suits them best.”

With this new feature, patients can view available slots for primary care appointments, choose a time that works for them, and easily cancel or reschedule if needed. It’s designed to make healthcare more accessible.

“So far, over 180 appointments have been booked through the portal,” said Toni McCall, chief of Munson’s Business Operations Division. “This not only helps patients but also reduces pressure on our appointment lines.” The trial phase began in the fall, partnering with the Patient and Family Partnership Council to ensure staff familiarity with the new system.

For those who still like to call, Munson’s appointment line is open on weekdays from 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at 913-684-6250.

Tips for a Smooth Online Experience:

  • Know Your Provider: Have the name of your Primary Care Manager (PCM) handy. You can find this information in the portal.
  • Verify Location: Make sure to search for “Ft. Leavenworth” to avoid scheduling errors.
  • Add Comments: Provide details about your appointment needs in the comments section to help nursing staff schedule appropriately.

“Currently, we’re only booking in-person appointments, as these make up most of our primary care visits,” Walker noted. “As we get more accustomed to this online system, we hope to expand its capabilities.”

The introduction of online booking is timely. According to the American Journal of Managed Care, telehealth services surged by 154% during the pandemic. As health systems adopt technology to improve access, Munson is leading the way by making appointment booking simpler and more efficient.
