Unlock a Free Year on Windows 10: Don’t Miss Your Chance Before October 14!

Microsoft is officially wrapping up support for Windows 10 this October. They are pushing users to switch to Windows 11, even offering a free upgrade. Yet, many still prefer Windows 10, whether due to system compatibility or hesitation to embrace the new AI features in Windows 11.

For those who want to stick with Windows 10 a bit longer, there’s an option to get another year of security updates for free through Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. This program will keep your system secure until October 2026, buying you time to upgrade or consider a new PC.

Initially, Microsoft planned to charge $30 for the ESU program but reversed the decision after users voiced their concerns. If you’re interested, you need to act before October 14.

To enroll in the ESU program, follow these steps:

• Open Settings.
• Go to Updates & Security, then Windows Update.
• Look for a notice that Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025.
• Click “enroll now” in the ESU program section.

If you don’t see the option, ensure your PC is updated and restart. This feature was rolled out in August 2025, so older systems might not have it yet.

When you access the ESU, you’ll find three options to receive your updates:

• 1,000 Microsoft Reward Points: An easy, no-cost way to secure updates. You can learn how to build points at the Microsoft website.
• Sync with OneDrive: You can also sync your Windows Backup with Microsoft’s cloud service for free, though extra storage may be needed.
• Pay $30: If keeping it simple sounds good, you can still choose to pay and get your updates.

The ESU updates last for one year, through October 13, 2026. Remember, only security updates are included, meaning no new features or additional support will be available unless you upgrade to Windows 11.
