Apple and NBCUniversal are joining forces to launch a new streaming bundle that aims to attract more subscribers to their platforms. This collaboration kicks off on October 20, right before the NBA season starts.
The “Apple TV and Peacock Bundle” will cost $14.99 per month for the standard package, which includes Apple TV and Peacock Premium. If you want the Premium Plus option, it’s $19.99. This new bundle offers a discount of over 30%, making it more enticing than subscribing to each service separately.
Additionally, Apple One subscribers can get Peacock Premium Plus for a 35% discount. This is interesting because it’s the first offer from outside the Apple ecosystem available to Apple One members, who usually enjoy services like Apple TV, Apple Music, and iCloud+ storage.
Each platform will also feature a selection of shows from the other, enticing viewers to check out new content. Apple TV users can catch episodes of hits like Bel-Air and Twisted Metal, while Peacock viewers will see shows like Palm Royale and Slow Horses.
The two services provide different types of content, but they complement each other well. Peacock focuses on live sports and a range of original shows, while Apple TV is known for its curated premium programming, akin to HBO.
Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, emphasized that this collaboration is a game-changer. It aims to improve the customer experience with easy sampling and a streamlined sign-up process. Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple TV, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the excitement of bringing beloved shows to a broader audience.
Interestingly, both companies had previously avoided direct partnerships since they launched their streaming services a few years ago. However, they’ve shifted strategies recently. NBCUniversal signed a deal to offer Peacock to Walmart+ subscribers and has partnered with Amazon and Google to expand its reach. Apple also made moves, like partnering with Chase to provide complimentary subscriptions to its services.
Ben Stiller, whose show Severance is on Apple TV, mentioned that this new bundle could help more viewers discover their content.
In a world where streaming options are rapidly evolving, this collaboration indicates a growing trend for services to collaborate rather than compete. As media consumption habits change, partnerships like this could reshape how streaming content is delivered and experienced by audiences.
You can find more information about the bundle and its offerings on the official NBCUniversal announcement and Apple’s site.
