Noosa Council is ready to support projects that focus on the environment and climate change adaptation. They are offering grants of up to $30,000 for innovative ideas through their Environment Project Grants and Climate Change Response Grants.

These grants aim to help local projects that work towards net-zero emissions and a full transition to renewable energy. According to Environmental Services manager Ben Derrick, these grants also aim to strengthen community efforts to lower emissions and cope with climate impacts.

The Environment Project Grants fund programs that promote positive environmental changes in Noosa, aligning with the Council’s environmental goals. Successful applicants can receive between $1,000 and $30,000. However, the deadline for this round of applications is coming up on March 19, 2025.

Mr. Derrick noted the impressive quality and diversity of projects that have applied for funding in the past. For instance, Zero Emissions Noosa Inc. received a Climate Change Response Grant for their Solar for Strata initiative, which included a helpful online guide for building management teams.

Another recipient, Noosa Integrated Catchment Association Inc., used their Environmental Project Grant for the Girraween Nature Refuge Rescue program. This project involved removing invasive weeds, planting native species, and raising public awareness through volunteer efforts.
