Unlock New Features: Google’s Gemini Now Offers Free Live Camera and Screen Sharing on Android!

Last week, Google began rolling out its Gemini Live features, allowing users to share their camera and screen with ease. Initially available to Advanced subscribers, these capabilities will soon be free for all Android users.

With Gemini Live, you can ask questions about whatever is on your screen or in your camera view. To start screen sharing, just open the Gemini overlay and tap the “Share screen with Live” button. Once you confirm, a timer will show up in your status bar to let you know you’re sharing.

While talking with Gemini Live, you can continue to scroll through apps or websites. Before it responds, you’ll feel a gentle vibration. If you want to stop sharing, simply pull down your notification shade and tap “Stop sharing.”

To activate the camera, just launch Gemini Live and find the fullscreen mode. There, you can switch to your front-facing camera with a simple tap. Keep in mind that the display needs to be active for Gemini to capture video effectively. According to Gemini, “For better results, capture objects with steady movements.”

This new feature allows you to interact with images, PDFs, or YouTube videos in addition to viewing your camera. Gemini Live’s visual sharing technology was first highlighted at Google’s I/O 2024 event in May. After rolling out to Advanced subscribers in March, it is now expanding to all Android users.

In a bold move, Google announced that a subscription will no longer be necessary for access to Gemini Live. This decision marks a significant shift in accessibility for users, allowing everyone to experience the capabilities that were once behind a paywall. As indicated by recent trends, user interest in real-time communication tools like Gemini Live is on the rise. A survey by TechCrunch found that 75% of users prefer platforms that integrate live interaction capabilities.
