Unlock Savings: University of Alabama’s Early College Program Slashes Tuition for 2025-2026!

The University of Alabama Early College (UAEC) has made an exciting move by lowering tuition for its dual enrollment program. Starting in fall 2025, high school students will pay just $33 per credit hour. This change aims to make college courses more accessible for students across Alabama.

Lynette Campos, the director of UA Early College, emphasizes the importance of this reduction. “It reduces financial barriers and opens doors for more students to experience college-level coursework from a prominent, nationally ranked university,” she says.

UAEC offers a variety of over 100 courses with both online and on-campus options, making it adaptable to different student needs. Every student begins with a free course called UAEC 200 College Readiness. This foundational course helps prepare students for success in their future college classes.

To enroll, high school students who have completed ninth grade must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

This initiative comes at a critical time. With rising college costs nationwide, making higher education more affordable is essential. Recent research shows that dual enrollment programs can significantly boost college completion rates among participants, which highlights the value of such programs in today’s educational landscape.
