On April 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These two weekly services will connect Banaras to Hadapsar in Pune and Ayodhya to the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai. This news comes from the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The goal of these trains is to strengthen direct rail links between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Banaras-Hadapsar service will make it easier to access the Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and the Ayodhya-Mumbai service will connect travelers to the Shri Ram Mandir. A press release from the Railway Ministry emphasizes that these services will benefit daily commuters, migrant workers, and pilgrims, making travel smoother and more direct.

The Banaras-Hadapsar train will pass through several significant stops, like Prayagraj, Jhansi, Bhopal, Manmad, and Kopargaon. Prayagraj is famous for its Kumbh Mela, while Jhansi is a historic tourist destination. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, has a growing IT and pharma sector. This route brings together both spiritual and commercial hubs.
The Ayodhya-Mumbai service also aims to support local communities, especially migrant workers. It’s not just about connecting two cities; it’s about reconnecting people with their roots and simplifying travel for those who frequently go home. This service travels from Ayodhya Cantt to Mumbai’s busiest long-distance terminal, making it easier for many North Indians.
Both new services will help to reduce travel times. The Banaras-Hadapsar journey will take about 30 hours, while the Ayodhya-Mumbai trip will take around 28 hours, with multiple stops along the way.
Currently, there are 30 Amrit Bharat trains providing 60 services. With the addition of these two new routes, that number will increase to 64. For comparison, one popular service runs daily between Rajendranagar in Patna and New Delhi. These trains not only save time but also offer modern amenities, including faster speeds, improved safety, and upgraded facilities.
The increased fare for the Amrit Bharat trains, about 15 to 17 percent higher than regular Mail and Express trains, is justified by these enhanced features. Passengers can expect a smoother, safer, and more comfortable journey.
