Dan Peguine, a tech entrepreneur in Lisbon, relies heavily on his AI assistant, Moltbot—formerly known as Clawdbot. This unique lobster-themed assistant has taken over much of his daily tasks, allowing him to manage everything from scheduling to reminders for his kids’ schoolwork.

Even in the world of high-stakes automation, users like André Foeken, a healthcare CTO, have found Moltbot helpful, despite some shortcomings. He shared an anecdote about letting Moltbot handle his Amazon shopping, which led to an amusing mix-up when it scanned his messages for items to purchase.
Interest in Moltbot has surged to the point where people are joking about buying new computers just to run this assistant. Remarkably, this buzz even caused a stock price spike for Cloudflare, a company unrelated to Moltbot.
Moltbot originates from independent developer Peter Steinberger, who launched it as Clawdbot last November. After rebranding at Anthropic’s request, he realized the assistant’s potential after a groundbreaking interaction with a voice memo. Steinberger was amazed when his prototype identified the audio file and converted it to text using OpenAI’s Whisper service. “That was the moment I was like, holy shit,” he recalls, sensing he had the makings of something groundbreaking.
