You can order dinner or book a ride to the airport with simple prompts. It’s the kind of AI assistance we’ve dreamed about for years.
When I started testing the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the automation wasn’t ready yet. But it recently launched in beta, and seeing it in action is quite a trip.
My first test? Ordering an Uber to the airport. Gemini asked which airport I needed, a smart question! It then handled the process, entering the destination and skipping steps that weren’t essential for my local airport. Before finalizing the ride, it asked me to confirm the details, which felt reassuring.
Next, I tried to order a coffee and a croissant. This request was trickier. Gemini took a bit longer, scrolling through Starbucks’ drink options to find my favorite flat white. It faced an important choice: should the croissant be warmed or not? Impressively, it opted to warm it up, which was the right call.
Despite some earlier hiccups, this assistant showed real improvement compared to just a year ago. Back then, it often struggled with straightforward requests.
I plan to keep testing this automation feature and throw more complex commands its way. So far, it’s impressive to see it perform tasks as intended.
As technology advances, user reactions to AI features are mixed. Some celebrate the convenience, while others worry about privacy and dependency. According to a recent survey by Pew Research, about 70% of Americans say they are excited about AI in daily life, but nearly half express concerns about its implications.
