On the other side, Kalen DeBoer has been trying to fill Saban’s shoes but hasn’t quite reached the same heights with a 20-7 record. A win in Pasadena could change the narrative for DeBoer, but it’s a tough challenge. Indiana boasts a stellar defense, ranking second nationally, and their quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, is the Heisman Trophy winner. It’s unusual to see Indiana favored against Alabama, but the numbers back them up.

Cotton Bowl

Last year was tumultuous for Ryan Day, but the Buckeyes turned things around, making it through the playoffs impressively. This season presents a much steeper challenge. While Ohio State’s defense is nearly flawless, the offense has been less explosive with freshman quarterback Julian Sayin at the helm. Miami, after a strong showing against Texas A&M, poses a real threat. They’ll rely on Mark Fletcher’s rushing, but if he’s contained, Carson Beck’s passing must step up to keep Miami competitive. I’m anticipating good value with Miami, especially if the line hits +10 again.

Reliaquest Bowl

The Commodores had a stellar season at 10-2, but losses to Alabama and Texas kept them out of the playoffs. Quarterback Diego Pavia had a strong finish to the season but has faced some controversy with his comments about Indiana’s Mendoza. Iowa’s defense should challenge him effectively. Pavia has been impressive lately, averaging 373.5 yards with 12 touchdowns in his last four games. But the Hawkeyes are known for physical play, which could tilt the game in their favor.
