But don’t be surprised if it disappears eventually
Right now, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a big hit, but many fans still prefer the classic battles in Dragon Ball FighterZ.
If you haven’t grabbed a copy of Dragon Ball FighterZ, you might get the chance to snag it for free—at least for a limited time.
According to Hotukdeals and Wario64, Xbox Series X|S users can try to add DBFZ to their library at no cost.
FighterZ is part of the Xbox Free Play Days event, running until Sunday, March 2, alongside other games like Catan – Console Edition and Worms W.M.D. But there’s a catch—you might be able to keep it longer.
To take part, you’ll need a Game Pass subscription. Make sure to download the Xbox One version of the game—not the latest one.
Once downloaded, launch DBFZ and select the option to “Upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S Version.”
Then, exit the game and restart your console. This should add the new version of FighterZ to your library.
Dragon Ball FighterZ (Xbox) possibly free to own if you have Game Pass:

2. Launch the game on the console and choose upgrade to Xbox Series X|S. Exit game, restart console to verify… pic.twitter.com/JsFWW5hIlX— Wario64 (@Wario64) February 27, 2025
This could let players keep the game even after the Free Play Days end. Some users say this upgrade works and keeps the game in their library, but we have our doubts.
Without testing it ourselves on Xbox, we think that once the free weekend is over, the game might just vanish.
Even if it doesn’t disappear right away, it could leave your library unexpectedly if Microsoft notices the glitch.
If you don’t have Game Pass and can’t get the $1 trial, it might not be worth it to chase this theory. Instead, consider buying Dragon Ball FighterZ outright—it’s available for just $9 right now, or get the Legendary Edition for $38.50.
