This 30-minute documentary dives into the critical issue of food insecurity in Indiana. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion and a Q&A session with local leaders. Among the panelists are Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson, Megan Betz from Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, and Erin Hollinden from Hoosier Hills Food Bank, as well as healthcare professionals and the documentary’s production team.

Food, Insecure isn’t just a film; it’s a call for awareness and action. It builds on the success of The Working Hungry, aiming to deepen our understanding of hunger issues in the community.

The panel will explore how food insecurity impacts Bloomington and what solutions are being implemented. This is a chance to learn about local initiatives and how you can get involved.

Food insecurity is a pressing concern. According to a recent survey by Feeding America, more than 1 in 10 Hoosiers faced food insecurity in 2021. That’s over 700,000 people in Indiana who struggle to access enough nutritious food. This issue affects families, children, and the elderly, making discussions like this crucial.

Experts stress the importance of community collaboration to tackle food insecurity. As Megan Betz points out, "We need to come together to create sustainable solutions that directly address the needs of our community."

Join us for this important conversation and find out how we can contribute to positive change in our local food system. By attending, you’ll gain insights into the ongoing efforts to combat hunger and learn how you can play a part in making a difference.
