Two Catholic universities in Morris Township, Caldwell University and Saint Elizabeth University, have teamed up to offer exciting opportunities for students. This partnership allows graduates of Caldwell to pursue master’s degrees in speech-language pathology and physician assistant studies at Saint Elizabeth University. This collaboration is particularly beneficial because access to these programs in New Jersey can be limited.
The job market for these fields is promising. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that speech-language pathology jobs will grow by 19% from now until 2032. That means around 33,100 new positions will open up. Meanwhile, the need for physician assistants is projected to grow by 20% from 2024 to 2034, with an average of 12,000 new jobs each year. This rapid growth showcases an urgent demand for professionals in healthcare.
President of Caldwell University, Jeffrey Senese, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its positive impact on student success. He stated that this agreement gives Caldwell students better chances of getting into these sought-after programs, which have selective entrance criteria due to limited cohort sizes.
Saint Elizabeth University complements this partnership with its accreditation. The university is recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant and is seeking accreditation for its speech-language pathology program. President Gary Crosby noted that Caldwell University’s reputation for strong graduates made this partnership an excellent choice.
Under this agreement, Caldwell students majoring in biology or health science can apply for the master’s in physician assistant studies. Those in communication science and disorders may pursue the master’s in speech-language pathology. This partnership not only enhances educational opportunities but also aligns with their shared mission of producing compassionate, skilled professionals.
Overall, this collaboration between Caldwell University and Saint Elizabeth University opens doors for students, aligning their educational paths with growing job markets in healthcare. For further insights into healthcare job trends, you can check the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
