Unlock Your Future: Scale AI and Webster University Team Up to Launch Innovative Program for the AI-Driven Workforce

St. Louis, MO – Webster University, a nonprofit institution with over a century of history in the St. Louis area, is teaming up with Scale AI, a tech company based in San Francisco. They’re launching a new technical writing program to cater to the growing demand for professionals in AI-driven industries.

Starting this spring, the nine-credit program aims to enhance the skills of Scale AI employees in St. Louis. This partnership shows Webster’s dedication to aligning education with the needs of today’s fast-evolving job market.

Michael Hulsizer, Webster University’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, explains, “This collaboration highlights our mission to bring education to the communities that need it most. Graduates will gain valuable skills in technical writing and information synthesis, making them attractive candidates in today’s AI-focused economy.”

Since its establishment in 2021, Scale’s St. Louis AI Center has created over 200 positions to provide crucial AI capabilities to government clients. Through the new program, Scale employees can apply their work experience toward earning credits, further committing to the St. Louis area’s role as a center for innovation.

AJ Segal, Head of the St. Louis AI Center at Scale AI, emphasizes the urgency of this need: “As companies across various sectors adopt AI, skilled technical writers are essential. They help decode complex data and ensure that AI processes are accurate and safe.”

Research shows that demand for technical writing skills in AI is on the rise. A recent survey from the Association of Computing Machinery found that technical writers in tech are increasingly sought after, with 70% of companies reporting difficulty finding qualified candidates. This reflects a significant shift in job requirements, where technical skills are becoming much more valuable.

With growing concerns about AI safety and transparency, the need for professionals who can communicate complex ideas clearly has never been higher. This program not only prepares students for current job markets but also contributes to America’s standing in global AI advancements.
