The University of New Haven is launching a new Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) set to begin in spring 2026. This program aims to meet the soaring demand for AI experts across various industries.

Dr. Vahid Behzadan, who oversees the program, highlights the urgent need for skills in AI. “Job opportunities for AI engineers are skyrocketing,” he says, especially in Connecticut. The state is becoming a hub for tech development, and local companies are eager for talent.

While the university already offers a master’s program in data science, Dr. Behzadan believes a focused AI program is essential. “AI is evolving rapidly, making specialized training critical,” he adds. This new degree promises both on-campus and online learning, making it accessible to students worldwide.

The curriculum emphasizes practical experience and ethical AI. Dr. Ardiana Sula, a co-coordinator of the program, states, “We’re in the Age of AI. The future depends on experts who can innovate responsibly.”

What makes this program stand out is its focus on core AI principles and real-world applications. Students will work with contemporary industry tools, direct applications of AI, and ethical considerations. Dr. Behzadan emphasizes that “safety and security are integrated into every course.”

The university’s commitment to AI innovation is further supported by the upcoming Center for Innovation and Applied Technology, a 130,000-square-foot facility aimed at fostering tech advancement.
