Teachers Health Trust hosted a vibrant health fair in Las Vegas, focusing on the well-being of educators and their families. This nonprofit health insurance plan aimed to support local teachers with free health services and valuable educational talks.
At the fair, attendees enjoyed no-cost health screenings, vaccinations, and dental check-ups. Doctoroo, a mobile urgent care service, provided crucial screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and heart rates, key indicators for early disease detection. Hearing screenings were offered by TruHearing, ensuring participants could keep track of their auditory health.
Albertson’s took charge of vaccinations, providing crucial shots for both adults and children. These included COVID, pneumonia, and other childhood immunizations. Dental care was accessible too, with Jet Dental offering full x-rays, exams, and cleanings.
The event featured insightful presentations, including one by Belinda Marchoud on managing negative thoughts and another by registered dietitian Julie Usdavin on healthy living practices. Doctoroo also held a workshop on choosing the right medical care, essential knowledge for anyone navigating the healthcare system.
Tom Zumtobel, the CEO of Teachers Health Trust, emphasized the organization’s mission to enhance the wellness of Clark County educators. “Our health fair provides convenient access to vital screenings and information,” he stated.
In addition to health services, nearly two dozen vendors showcased resources like primary care, pediatrics, and mental health services. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as attendees had a chance to win raffle prizes, including gift cards, a pizza oven, and more.
Recent studies show that preventive health services, such as screenings and vaccinations, significantly reduce long-term healthcare costs. According to research published by the CDC, communities that promote regular health check-ups can see a decrease in medical expenses and improve overall public health.
This health fair stands out not just for its services but as a community effort to foster better health. It demonstrates the vital role educators play and highlights the importance of accessible healthcare in their everyday lives. By investing in their well-being, we invest in the future of our children and communities.
