Unlock Your iPhone: Chat with Google Gemini Directly from Your Lock Screen!

Users of Google Gemini can now access the AI chatbot directly from their iPhone’s lock screen, thanks to a recent update. This was first highlighted by 9to5Google. With this new feature, you can use Gemini Live, Google’s voice-enabled chatbot, before even unlocking your phone by adding a Gemini widget to your lock screen.

While Apple’s AI version of Siri may not arrive until 2027, other companies are stepping up. They are providing iPhone users with exciting AI options. These features show what voice assistants can do, even if Apple’s Siri will eventually be more integrated with the iPhone’s functions.

Also, the ChatGPT app for iOS offers a similar feature. Users can access OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode from the lock screen.

Besides Gemini Live, the updated Gemini app offers more widgets for lock screens. You can take photos, set reminders, or jump to a chat with Gemini right from there.

Later this March, Google will allow Android users to ask Gemini questions about videos and screen content, getting real-time answers. These features come from Project Astra, Google DeepMind’s AI project that’s slowly being added to the Gemini app. For now, they will be available to those subscribed to Google’s $20-a-month Gemini Advanced plan.
