Exciting news! The UK-India Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) ballot for 2025 will open next week. If you’re looking to apply for a visa through this scheme, you need to enter the ballot successfully first.
There are 3,000 spots available for the YPS in 2025. Most of these will be offered in the February ballot, with the rest available in a second ballot in July.
Indian nationals aged 18 to 30 can enter the ballot on gov.uk. The ballot will run from February 18 to February 20. There’s no fee to enter, and winners will be selected at random.
Lindy Cameron, the British High Commissioner to India, emphasized the program’s value. She encourages applicants from all over India to participate, highlighting its role in fostering deeper connections between the two countries.
What is the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme?
Launched in February 2023, the YPS allows British and Indian citizens to live, work, and travel in each other’s countries for up to two years. It’s a great chance to gain new experiences and understanding.
To qualify for a UK visa under this scheme, you must:
- Be an Indian citizen
- Be between 18 and 30 years old
- Hold an eligible qualification
- Have at least £2,530 in savings
Remember, you must be selected in the ballot before applying. Make sure you meet all criteria before entering.
How to Enter the Ballot

The next ballot opens at 2:30 PM IST on February 18, 2025, and closes at 2:30 PM IST on February 20, 2025. You can enter anytime during this period.
To enter, you’ll need to provide:
- Your name
- Your date of birth
- Your passport details
- A scan or photo of your passport
- Your phone number
- Your email address
Each person can submit only one entry. Multiple entries will not be counted.
If you’re selected, you’ll receive an email within two weeks after the ballot closes. You’ll then have 90 days to apply for the visa through the online application form, which includes providing biometrics and paying the visa fee along with the immigration health surcharge.
