The KP Performance Center is the new training hub for the University of Lynchburg’s golf program. Thanks to a generous gift from Jacque and Sean Grzebin, this facility features cutting-edge technology and a supportive atmosphere. They dedicated it to Jacque’s mother, Katherine Purdy, whose values of perseverance and positivity shine through in this space.
Located in the Wake Field House, the center is designed to elevate the training experience. At its heart is a Trackman 4 golf simulator. This device lets student-athletes explore over 500 golf courses from around the globe. It provides metrics like ball speed and carry distance, helping players improve their skills in real time.
Inside, you’ll find amenities that enhance the training experience. The first floor features player lockers and a cozy study area, decorated in Lynchburg colors with comfortable seating. The second floor showcases a 30×20 foot putting green, complete with five cups. Here, players can practice their putting strokes using the Arc Master, which trains both mind and muscle memory—a crucial part of developing consistency in the game.
The importance of such facilities cannot be overstated. According to a recent survey by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), over 60% of student-athletes reported that access to training facilities significantly improves their performance. Investing in tools like the KP Performance Center not only enhances local talent but also positions universities to compete at higher levels.
As universities increasingly recognize the value of specialized training environments, facilities like this pave the way for the next generation of golfers. The KP Performance Center is more than just a building; it’s a commitment to fostering talent and supporting the growth of student-athletes.
