Gonzaga University is teaming up with Dale Carnegie Training of Washington and Idaho to roll out professional communication courses under the University’s Center for Lifelong Learning. This partnership includes two key offerings: Effective Communications & Human Relations and High Impact Presentations. They’re perfect for professionals looking to enhance their leadership skills and boost their confidence.
Rachelle Strawther, director of the Center for Lifelong Learning, explains that this collaboration merges Gonzaga’s academic strength with Dale Carnegie’s real-world training. “We’re expanding access to impactful learning for professionals at all stages of their careers,” she says.
A New Approach to Learning
The partnership brings together Dale Carnegie’s renowned leadership training with Gonzaga’s academic resources. This ensures that participants receive training that’s practical and trustworthy. Dale Carnegie offers hands-on learning techniques, while Gonzaga’s College of Arts and Sciences provides the academic oversight needed for credibility. This collaboration also aims to deliver Gonzaga-issued credentials and continuing education credits, bridging the gap between academia and practical skills.
Jacqueline Van Hoomissen, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, adds that these courses extend Gonzaga’s mission from the classroom into the community. She emphasizes the importance of applied learning rooted in strong academic foundations.
Details About the Courses
The courses are taught by Vito DiMaio, a Gonzaga alumnus and certified Dale Carnegie instructor. He brings over 25 years of experience in training professionals and executives.

These courses will be offered multiple times throughout the year, and there are plans for future expansions.
