Unlock Your Potential with Kaden Ackerson: Your Guide to Undergraduate Fellowships

Kaden Ackerson is making a mark as the Program Manager for the Office of Undergraduate and Graduate Fellowships. In this role, she guides students through the process of finding national and international scholarships and fellowships. She also plays a key part in managing data and marketing efforts for the office.

Kaden is currently studying International Affairs and Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), with a focus on Asian Studies and a minor in Chinese. Her interest in business, international relations, and languages helps her support student success.

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Kaden attended a language immersion academy where she began studying Mandarin Chinese. This experience fueled her passion for learning languages. Before her time at UNR, she earned an Associate of Arts in Business from Truckee Meadows Community College. She also participated in an esteemed Chinese program at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

On campus, Kaden is active as the Student Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi, UNR’s oldest honors society. Off-campus, she volunteers with the Northern Nevada International Center, where she tutors refugees, and with She Means Business, a nonprofit that supports young women in business. In her free time, she loves yoga, skiing, traveling, and reading.

Looking ahead, Kaden aims to fuse her knowledge of business, language, and international affairs into a career in diplomacy or international business. She hopes to build strong cross-cultural connections and promote global collaboration.

Recent studies show that students involved in extracurricular activities and community service often perform better academically and develop greater leadership skills. Kaden’s diverse experiences highlight how engagement outside the classroom can enrich personal growth and career prospects.
