Is it still College Sports Communicators Appreciation Week? No? Well, that’s a bummer!
Let’s talk about Joanna Dwyer. She recently announced she’s leaving Princeton, and honestly, it’s a big change for everyone. Joanna joined us right after graduating from Elon University in 2024. In her short time here, she made quite the impact. Now, she’s heading to USC to cover swimming and water polo.
It’s hard not to feel happy for her, but some (ahem, Andrew Borders) aren’t as thrilled—especially since he’s a UCLA grad! But back to Joanna. She brings so much energy and enthusiasm. Not only did she work hard, but she also made our days brighter.
Interestingly, she isn’t the only recent grad making waves. Alex Henn started around the same time and shares a similar passion. The good news for Alex? She’s not moving across the country!
While Joanna’s moving on, Princeton sports are thriving. Last Saturday, the men’s lacrosse team finished their regular season with a remarkable win against Penn, making history by not allowing a single goal in all seven Ivy League games. They outscored their opponents 12-0, a feat that had never been accomplished before!
This achievement is a testament to their hard work and strategy, especially considering they faced 71 shots over those seven games. Talk about focus and determination!
Princeton’s rankings are impressive, too. They’ve been at the top of the Division I RPI and are third in the coaches’ poll. With the Ivy League tournament around the corner, excitement is building. They already secured a spot in the NCAA tournament, but the team will still strive for that automatic bid.
As Joanna moves on, she reflects on her time at Princeton with heartfelt emotions. You could see how much this place meant to her during her farewell announcement.
Change can be tough, but it also opens new doors. While we’ll miss her, we know she’ll do well at USC. Here’s to new beginnings for Joanna, and to an exciting tournament for Princeton.
