Euroseeds has announced that Garlich von Essen, its Secretary General, will represent the organization on the new European Board on Agriculture and Food (EBAF).
Von Essen emphasized the critical role seeds play in agriculture and food systems. He expressed that the seed and plant breeding industry is dedicated to fostering innovation and enhancing competitiveness in Europe.
Euroseeds is eager to engage in shaping policies that respond to agricultural priorities. With the establishment of EBAF, the European Commission aims to facilitate discussions between the agri-food sector, civil society, and the government. This new board, led by Commissioner Christophe Hansen, will focus on creating a strategy for the future of agriculture and food.
The first meeting of the EBAF is scheduled for February 4. Von Essen is committed to collaborating with other board members to develop a joint strategy that ensures sustainability and competitiveness in Europe’s agri-food industry.
