A New Astrological Almanac for NRI Tech Professionals
A special almanac and calendar, designed specifically for tech professionals living abroad, is set to be launched on January 1, 2026. This unique creation, known as the Chilakamarthi English Panchang, will be offered to Baba Mahakal in Ujjain, a significant center for timekeeping.
Pandit Chilakamrathi Prabhakar Chakravarti Sharma, who is both an engineer and an astrologer, has developed this almanac to cater to a younger, more global audience. His goal is to bridge traditional Indian astrology with modern life, making it accessible to people, especially Generation Z, who may find traditional formats challenging.
Sharma started this project in 2011, and the first version was released in 2012. He emphasized that the upcoming edition keeps the needs of NRI tech professionals in mind. “This almanac is a guide for those navigating both Indian culture and their modern lives,” he said.
One highlight of this almanac is its bilingual format, available in both English and Telugu. Sharma wants it to resonate not only with NRIs but also with youngsters in India who speak various languages but have English as a common ground. This approach helps tackle the language barriers often faced when dealing with traditional astrology texts.
The Chilakamarthi English Panchang goes beyond just dates and auspicious times. It serves as a comprehensive guide, offering insights into astrology and the principles of Sanatana Dharma. Users can check auspicious times for daily activities and verify the accuracy of recommendations made by priests.
So far, the almanac has gained popularity, with over 15,000 downloads. It is available for free, making it accessible to many. Sharma’s contributions to this field extend beyond the almanac; he has authored four books about engineering and 32 books on astrology and related subjects.
In this digital age, connecting with one’s culture can be a challenge, but Sharma’s work aims to make this journey easier for the younger generation. By blending tradition with modern technology, he hopes to inspire pride in Indian culture among tech-savvy youth worldwide.
