Unlocking Box Office Potential: ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Set to Soar with M-M Opening This Presidents’ Day Weekend!

There are just under five weeks until the much-anticipated release of Disney/Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World. This film is projected to earn between $86M and $95M during the 3-day stretch of the Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend, starting February 14. If we include the full four-day period, estimates suggest it could surpass $100M.

These numbers reflect shifts in the cast and a fresh direction for the Captain America series. The new movie is grounded in reality, similar to the 2014 hit Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which opened to $95M over its first weekend.

According to tracking service Quorum, Captain America: Brave New World has the highest awareness level of any upcoming movie, sitting at 58. This puts it ahead of Universal’s Wolf Man (44), Lionsgate’s Flight Risk (37), and StudioCanal/Sony’s Paddington in Peru (36), which also opens during the Presidents Day weekend. The film is particularly popular among men, with young women showing strong interest as well.

Many viewers prefer to see Captain America: Brave New World in theaters rather than stream it at home. The willingness to pay for a ticket stands at 67, significantly higher than other upcoming titles like Wolf Man (57) and Paddington in Peru (45).

Directed and co-written by Julius Onah, this film continues the story from the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In this series, Sam Wilson takes on the shield once wielded by Steve Rogers. The show received a positive response, and fans are hopeful that this enthusiasm will carry into the film’s opening weekend.

When we look at Presidents Day weekend records, Marvel Studios has dominated the box office. The top three openings are held by \em>Black Panther ($242.1M), Deadpool ($152.1M), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120.3M). Notably, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had a 3-day opening of $106.1M, while Deadpool and Black Panther opened with $132.4M and $202M, respectively.

Quorum’s predictions are often accurate. For example, they correctly forecasted a $200M+ opening weekend for Deadpool & Wolverine, while other tracking services offered more cautious estimates.
