The Prime Minister highlighted how manufacturing can enhance self-reliance in agriculture. Building equipment and food manufacturing hubs can create jobs and lessen dependence on imports. This integrated approach supports local economies and secures food supplies.
Currently, around 90% of ITC’s raw materials come from local sources. This not only boosts farmers’ incomes but also strengthens the business against global supply chain issues.
For India to thrive, rural areas must play a key role. Corporate efforts in rural employment, skill development, and sustainable practices are essential. Climate change adds urgency to these innovations, like using climate-resilient crops and efficient irrigation.
