Google recently introduced Play Games Sidekick, a feature showcased at the Game Developers Conference. It’s now rolling out, enhancing how players interact with their games.
With this feature, players can easily access shortcuts like capturing screenshots, starting screen recordings, and streaming on YouTube Live. A carousel displays AI-generated game tips tailored to your gameplay, alongside achievements and progress updates.
Soon, you’ll be able to share your screen using “Start Gemini Live” for real-time in-game assistance. Currently, you can try Play Games Sidekick on over 90 titles.
Google Play is also launching Game Trials. This lets players sample paid games risk-free with a “Try” button. Any progress made during the trial will carry over if you decide to purchase the full game. This feature is coming soon to mobile games, with PC support to follow.
Moreover, Google announced “Buy once, play anywhere” pricing. This means if you buy a game on mobile, you can access it on PC too. Initial titles for this model include popular games like the Reigns series and Dungeon Clawler.
For gamers wanting a broader view, you can now browse desktop titles directly on Android through a new “PC” page in the Games tab. Plus, you can set wishlists to get alerts when games go on sale.
In addition to existing free-to-play options, Google is adding new paid games like Moonlight Peaks and Sledding Game.
According to recent surveys, 73% of gamers appreciate the chance to try before they buy, reflecting a strong demand for trial options in gaming. With these updates, Google hopes to enhance user experience, making gaming more accessible and enjoyable.
